Bath pics

Lucas loves to get Isaac ready for his bath. He takes off his clothes and his diaper, unless their's something special inside. It's so cute to see Lucas so loving with his brother. He's going to be the best father one day.

My poor sick baby :(

Ever since Isaac was brought home from the hospital it seems as though he's been sick. Thanksgiving was the first time he got sick enough to take him to the doctor. He got well for about two weeks and then a week or two later he got sick again. This time he much sicker than before. The doctor thought it was RSV but he tested negatively. After the second doctor visit the doctor still couldn't prescribe anything to treat his symptoms. She just said it was a virsus and it had to runs its course. At his 4 month check up on the 5th the doctor found he had an ear infection so they prescribed him Amoxocillin. Ten days later after his last dose he gets a runny nose and starts barking with this horrible cough Friday night. The next morning we took him to the doctor. He now had two ear and eye infections. The doctor said it was a viral virus and there was nothing to do but wait it out. He was put on Augmentin for his eyes and ears. By the next day, Sunday, he had diarrhea from the med. On Monday I called the doctor's office and they prescribed him Omnicept. He still continued to get worse and was wheezing by Tuesday so we loaded him back up and went to the doctor again. They diagnosed him as having non-RSV bronchiolitis. All the same symptoms of RSV but just didn't test positive for the virus. They gave him a breathing treatment and sent him home with a machine and treatments to do at home every 4 hours. That didn't seem to help but we kept doing them. Wednesday I stayed home from work and gave him treatments all day. Thursday I kept him home and dropped off Lucas at school. I found out there were 3 cases of RSV in Isaac's room. I went to work only to get a call from my mother in law telling me that Isaac was really sick and having difficulty breating. I ran home from work and Chad and I decided to take him to the ER at Vanderbilt Children’s. He has non-rsv bronchiolitis, which we knew. They suctioned him out pretty good, did a chest x-ray (which was clear) and tested him for rsv and flu. That if he had RSV he would have to be admitted. Both were negative, thank God. It’s a virus that will just have to run its course. He’s breathing much better and looks like he feels a little better. It's just going to take a few weeks before he's able to get over his cough. This last sickness was so bad we have decided to pull him out of school. When I took Lucas to school this week I learned that there were a total of 5 or 6 cases of RSV with one resulting in a 8 week old being admitted at Vandy Childrens'. He's just too young to go to school right now. His poor immune system just has not built up enough resistance yet to fight off all these viruses. Maybe during the summer and he's a little older we might try it again. But I have a feeling we'll have to keep him out until he's at least 18 months. Here's a pic of my poor little guy asleep in the swing doing a breathing treatment. :(

Our new pet

I forgot to mention that we got a new pet several weeks ago. Meet K!

Happy 40th Anniversary to my parents

On January 17th Mom and Dad celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Wow!!! That's a LONG time to be married. I didn't get a picture of them together on their anniversary but here's their wedding picture and a picture of them holding Isaac when he was first born. Congratulations, Mom and Dad.

I love this drawing by Cynthia. It's so cute it's funny!

These were the toppers on their wedding cake 40 years ago.

4 month stats

Isaac is now 14 lbs and 6 ozs and is 25 inches long. He's in the 50th percentile for his age in each. I can't remember his head size but it was in the 25th percentile. Small head, I guess. He received two shots and the rotovirus vaccine today. He also has an ear infection. :( Other than that he's healthy.

My baby turned 4 months old yesterday.

I cannot believe how fast 4 months have flown. Bye bye newborn. He has his 4 month check up tomorrow. He's been to the doctor twice in the last 3 weeks so I know he weighs 14 lbs. He probably hasn't gained any due to his stuffiness and teething. Poor guy. It's been 3 weeks this kid has been sick. He was even sick at Thanksgiving. Everybody thinks it's allergies but it has to be a virus and teething making him continue to stay sick. I hope so. Allergies are a whole different story I don't want to read right now.

Isaac's really is a good boy. He's started this thing now, though, where he cries if you're not in the room with him. He's fine if he can see you but once you're out of his sight I guess he gets lonely. And loves, loves, loves to be held. He'd let you hold him all day long.

He found his hands a few weeks ago. It's precious to just sit and watch him hold his paci and just stare at it. He's grabbing toys and putting everything in his mouth. He goes through bib after bib due to all the drooling. You can't pick him up over your head unless you want to get drooled on. Where is all this spit coming from? Every day I check his mouth and still no tooth.

Still sleeping in bed with me and Daddy's on the couch. Eventually he'll sleep in his crib and daddy in the bed. Some nights he'll only get up once and others it may be every 2 to 3 hours to eat and then right back to bed. He's pretty much on his own schedule. He likes to get up around 6/7:00 for the day. He naps around 9 and then again in the afternoon. He likes to get his bath around 4 or 5 and then a nap around 7 and then in bed with me around 8! Way too early for me. He's been sleeping pretty good and that's because I started letting him sleep on his stomach. HE LOVES IT. I know it's bad but he sleeps so much better.

He loves to chatter here lately. It's cute because I can hear his little voice. He's been laughing out loud more, too. He absolutely loves Lucas and looks for him all the time. I hope they're good friends. He just smiles at him all the time. You can tell he really adores him.

He rolled from his stomach to his back as early as like 4 weeks but now just rolls on his side. He's growing up so fast that I cannot believe he's not longer a newborn.
